ABOUT US

Your organization has so many amazing stories to tell, and your audience craves content. But your team doesn’t have the internal bandwidth or resources to devote to brand storytelling and thought leadership in a consistent, strategic way.

STRATEGIC STORYTELLING FOR TEAMS WITH NO TIME.

IMPACTFUL CONTENT WITHOUT THE OVERWHELM

Stories are a form of currency in the nonprofit world — but prioritizing storytelling can feel close to impossible when you’re drinking from the firehose of daily marketing communications demands. And that often leaves you scrambling for the right stories at the last minute, or reusing the same tired content over and over again.

We collaborate with nonprofit marketing communications teams to tell the stories that will elevate your awareness, education, thought leadership, advocacy, and fundraising efforts. We take the pain out of creating impact communications that move hearts, build understanding, and compel action, from case studies and annual reports to story libraries and patient education content.

MEET OUR PRESIDENT

ANNA SCHARDT BAKER

Hi, I’m Anna (“ahh-nah”),

I’ve long been a prolific reader and writer — and as a communicator and storyteller I am fascinated by how information and stories are organized, presented, and consumed. I’m also a “nonprofit girl” at heart, one who feels most at home when working for a great cause.

After I earned my B.A. in Professional Writing from Carnegie Mellon University (ask me about the great city of Pittsburgh!), I enjoyed a four-year stint in educational publishing before transitioning to the faster-paced world of nonprofit marketing communications. Over the next 15-plus years I held a progressive series of leadership roles that focused on digital engagement, strategic communications, and storytelling for health and education-focused nonprofits.

  • In summer 2017 I took a big, deep breath and leaped into independent consulting. I founded Three Story Strategies to help nonprofits and associations harness the power of storytelling to elevate their brand messaging, thought leadership, and patient engagement. Today I serve a variety of clients in the public health, health care, and social services spaces.

I am drawn to health care advocacy because health is wealth. Everyone has the right to accurate, accessible information about how to get and stay as healthy as possible – and when something goes wrong with your or a loved one’s health, you need a trusted place to turn to. Much of my work centers around health equity, from advocating for affordable insulin to defending the Affordable Care Act to capturing culturally relevant ways to overcome health disparities in underserved communities.

I live in Arlington, Va., with my darling husband, three energetic children, and two overly affectionate cats — all of whom are known to make occasional Zoom appearances.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me volunteering with Girls on the Run, brushing up on my high school French with Duolingo, or planning our neighborhood’s next epic block party.

I may call the D.C. region home, but the best part about my work is that it can take me anywhere. It is an honor to serve every client, every patient, every reader.
